Intraoral Camera
An intraoral camera is a wonderful diagnostic tool that we can use to visually show you our concerns. The camera can be maneuvered comfortably throughout all areas of your mouth. The images are simple to take and the results are immediate. The camera provides a clear picture of your mouth and offer a visual reference while discussing treatment options. The images can also be used as additional information for an insurance claim if necessary.
Digital X-rays
We use digital x-rays here at Fifth Avenue Dental. Digital x-rays are more comfortable for you and have immediate results. Less radiation is used during this process, a benefit you you. Let us know if you have any current x-rays that would be helpful for your first visit. This allows our doctors to only update what is necessary during your appointment.
Diagnodent
One of our many dental tools we have the privilege of using is, Diagnodent. During your exam this detection device would be used on any area where caries (decay) may be a concern. When used in conjunction with your dental x-rays our doctors can explore beneath the surface of your tooth. This painless laser measures the depth of decay that may not have been seen on your x-ray. Early detection of caries (decay) can allow for a more conservative treatment plan.
Rotary Endodontics
Endodontics (root canal) is the removal of the nerves in a tooth. This procedure is performed due to infection. Many patients experience tooth pain, but not always. Our doctors will examine the area of concern and use an x-ray to form a diagnosis. One of the instruments that is used to perform a root canal is an electrical hand piece. This system is referred to as Rotary Endodontics and is an aid to perform the treatment with ease, allowing for a more comfortable experience for you.
Sedation Dentistry
If the idea of going to the dentist for a procedure brings on feelings of fear or anxiety, there are option to ease the anxiety. IV sedation is very safe, easy and is recommended for moderate to severe anxiety. Medication is given into your bloodstream and it works quickly and effectively. You will remain awake during your procedure, but you will be in a heightened state of relaxation. It is also possible that you will not remember part or all of your procedure afterwards. IV sedation can be performed for minor or major dental treatment needs.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are an effective way to replace missing teeth. When teeth are lost because of disease or an accident, dental implants may be a good option. You may choose to replace one or several, or support dentures. Often the alternative treatment involves other teeth, which may not be necessary.
Implants are made of titanium and other material that re will received by the body. They are surgically placed into your upper or lower jawbone. The procedure takes place over the course of several months. Because treatment is based uniquely on your specific needs our doctors will share with you your options.
Replacing a missing tooth with a dental implant can take longer and cost more than other replacement options. However, implants are often a good value because they can last a lifetime with proper care. Regular dental visits are important to the success of your new implant and we are committed to help you maintain them.
